„Queen Elisabeth - Carmen Sylva in the 19th century media“, by Anica Constantin - book launching. The work is dedicated to Queen Elisabeth of Romania (1843-1916), who wrote under the pseudonym of Carmen Sylva. In a mostly patriarchal society, the Queen has managed to take the first step in women’ emancipation and has also significantly contributed to supporting arts and helping the poor. She assumed her political mission without hesitation and persisted in making the country she ruled over known and admired throughout the whole Europe. The main aim of the paper is to reveal the way in which the personality of the first Romanian queen was reflected by the media. The book is addressed to both specialists and ordinary people interested in history. |
