The Cotroceni National Museum, in collaboration with the Prahova Department for Culture, Cults and Cultural National Heritage and the Vălenii de Munte Cultural Centre have organized, between the 27th and 30th of May, 2009, in Vălenii de Munte, the 14th edition of the National Conference in History, Decorative Art History, Preservation-Restoration and Public Relations, a tradition for the research activities the museum encourages. As every year, our objective is to present the results of researchers in museums and research institutes in Romania. This edition was attended by specialists in Bucharest, Iaşi, Timişoara, Constanţa, Târgovişte, Sinaia, Braşov, Deva, Făgăraş, Ploieşti, Sibiu, Oradea, Suceava. We focused on the following anniversaries: - 330 years since the foundation of the Cotroceni monastery (1679 - 2009); - 170 years since the birth of King Carol I (1839 - 2009); - 160 years since the ascension to the throne of Barbu Stirbei (1849 - 2009); - 150 years since the union of the Romanian Principalities; - 120 since Prince Ferdinand’s arrival in Romania (1889 - 2009); - 70 years since the Crown Council in Cotroceni (1939 - 2009). The Conference was divided in three sections: I. History 1) Founders and edifices in Wallachia (17th - 20th century); 2) Cultural and political personalities in Cotroceni in the modern and contemporary age. II. Decorative Art history Decorative art in Romanian museums. III. Preservation - Restoration Promoting the religious heritage through research in preservation and restoration. IV. Public Relations „In memoriam Radu Florescu“ Communication strategies in the museum - audience relation. The session ended with a trip to Suzana and Cheia monastery. | |
