„Youth and Museums“ Conference, the 3rd edition
   
   
            In line of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of its beginnings, the Cotroceni National Museum, in partnership with UNESCO, is organizing between the May 27th and May 29th 2011 the international conference on museology, cultural management and European identity, an important event for the museum environment in Bucharest.
            The panels of the conference will tackle different aspects of museum culture: expressing European identity in museums, museums of history and art: mission, objectives, strategies; programs and cultural projects in the management of politics and cultural management in the current economic context, new tendencies in restoration - conservation.
            Attending the conference will be directors of museums in the country and abroad, specialists of museums and cultural institutions, UNESCO representatives. By organizing this international conference, the Cotroceni National Museum aims at reflecting the main aspects of a contemporary museum, the impressive cultural diversity and the multiplicity of alternative offers, that any European museum should tackle, encouraging the exchange of ideas between museums in Romania and abroad.

            The Cotroceni National Museum is for the third consecutive year partner of the third edition of the project Metamorphoses, initiated in 2009 by UNESCO in collaboration with the Romanian Feseration of Associations, Clubs and Centers for UNESCO through Alumnus Club, the Romanian government - Department for Interethnic Relations, the National Romanian Comussion for UNESCO, the National Romanian Comission for UNESCO, happening between the 17th and the 20th of May. The young participans (plastic artists, musicians, scenographers, directors, photographers, art historians and theoreticians, museologists, teachers, journalists) from Turkey, Romania, Greece, France, Serbia, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, Moldova will meet in Bucharest for workshops and roundtables centered on European identity, focusing on the European city in the context of multiculturalism. On the 29th of May the participants shall present at the Cotroceni National Museum the results of the visual research.
            The end of the conference will be a one day trip offered to all participants at Horezu and Polovragi monasteries, emblems of Romanian culture.
