Friday, December 18th 2009, 7.30 p.m., the Union Hall of the Presidenctial Administration hosted the Christmas Concert, this year held by the famous Ştefan Hruşcă. He made his debut in 1981 in the Flacăra gatherings, where he had held approximately 1000 concerts by 1984. He received numerous awards among them „the Great Award for Folk“ (1982) the „Creativity Award“ (1983), the „Golden Disk“ on behalf of Electrecord Records with the album „Carols I“ for best selling albums (1991), the second „Golden Disk“ for the album „At the making of the world“, the „Award of the Artists Union“ for the biggest number of albums sold „Ziurel de ziurel“ (1996). Living in Canada from 1991, Ştefan Hruşcă returns every year to his native county, Maramureş. He kept his promise to promote Romanian traditions and customs, this year also, and will enchant Romanians all over the country, through an extended tour. On this occasion Ştefan Hruşcă stopped by the Cotroceni National Museum to hold a carol concert for the now traditional Christmas Concert organized by the museum. For Ştefan Hruşcă Christmas is a special time of year: „I think we as people were born spiritually on Christmas Day, together with Christ’s birth. I also hold that carols are the first songs that appeared on these lands ...“. |
