The Cotroceni National Museum has hosted on Sunday, May 9th 2010, 5 pm, Florin Niculescu’s jazz concert, on Europe’s Day. The famous jazzman is playing at the museum for the second time, after the concert in September 2009, on the Days of Bucharest. Niculescu is one of the most talented jazz players of Europe. He has managed to form a very personal style, by unique sounds and language, based on old jazz traditions and classical structures. Niculescu acknowledges Stephane Grapelli as his main influence and reason to explore new musical grounds. Born and educated in Bucharest, he decides to move to Paris at 23 to start his career as a jazzman, by playing with the Boulou brothers and Elios Ferre. In 1995 he worked with Babik Reinhardt, son of the famous Django Reinhardt, the beginning of a interesting career, that also brought collaborations with mainstream artists such as Francoise Hardy, Charles Aznavour and Henri Salvador. |
