CHRISTMAS CONCERT
 
   
           The traditional Christmas Concert held on Thursday, December 14th, 18 PM, at the Cotroceni National Museum, ended the series of events dedicated to the 20th founding anniversary of the museum (1991 – 2011). The event featured the performance of the Moldavian National Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Cristian Florea, soloists Maria Montserrat Florea and Tina Munteanu.
           The Moldavian National Chamber Orchestra was founded in the spring of 1988 on the initiative of conductor Alfred Gherşfeld (currently established in the USA)
           The Orchestra activates in the Organ Hall, a state music institution in Chişinău. The ensemble is well known throughout the world due to its tours in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, Israel, USA, and due to its high performing qualities and vast repertoire.
           All musicians of the Orchestra are alumni of high musical institutions in Chisinau, Moscow and Nijhny-Novgorod. Each musician is also a soloist, performing concertos for solo instruments and orchestra. Moreover, the musicians participate in various instrumental ensembles: trios, quartets, quintets, as well as piano, harpsichord and wind instruments ensembles.
           One of the most important accomplishments of the National Chamber Orchestra is the recording of a CD with the French trumpeter Bernard Soustrot. The launching of this CD took place at the Montansier Theatre in Versailles.
           The members of the Moldavian National Chamber Orchestra have collaborated with the European Symphonic Orchestra, founded by Cristian Florea, having the honour to perform on various stages in Europe, alongside famous musicians such as tenors Placido Domingo or Jose Carreras.
           On September 4th, 2011, the National Chamber Orchestra in Chişinău successfully performed at the Romanian Athenaeum, during the 20th jubilee edition of "George Enescu" International Festival.
            The repertoire of the Christmas Concert organized by the Cotroceni National Museum included compositions of Bach, Gounod, Vivaldi, Sarasate, Anderson, Albinoni, Rahmaninov, Haendel-Halvorsen, Piazzola, Strauss, as well as Romanian and international Christmas carols.
           The concert took place in the Unirii Hall.
