Bucharest Early Music Festival 2011, one of the most important events related to early music in Romania, took place between October 26 - 30, 2011, at Cotroceni National Museum. This year, the sixth edition of the Festival invited the public to a musical journey through Baroque Europe. This voyage carried the audience through the 18th century France, Italy and Germany. During the three concerts that took place on October 26, 29 and 30, in Cerchez Hall of the Cotroceni National Museum, Bucharest Early Music Festival has brought on stage musicians from Belgium, Norway, Austria, Japan and Romania. Honoured by the High Patronage of his Excellency, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Romania, Mr Phillipe Beke, the Festival intended to create an artistic atmosphere as well as to develop the musical education of young generations. The aim of the event was to expand the limits of an educated public, broadening its audience. During the concerts, the public was invited to explore the Baroque era through historical musical instruments and unique rendition techniques. Famous international music artists such as: Marcel Ponseele, Philippe Pierlot, François Fernandez, Ketil Haugsand, Reiner Zipperling, Jan de Winne or Hervé Douchy, members of Ricercar Consort, Il Gardellino and Camerata Köln ensembles joined this year’s edition of the Festival. Bucharest Early Music Festival 2011 was organized in collaboration with the Cotroceni National Museum, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Bucharest City Hall and the Cultural Centre of the Republic of Hungary in Bucharest. Bucharest Early Music Festival 2011 programme: Wednesday, October 26: In times past - the Baryton, concert held by Ricercar Consort ensemble (Philippe Pierlot - baryton, Francois Fernandez - viola, Rainer Zipperling - violoncello); repertoire - trios for baryton composed by Joseph Haydn. Saturday, October 29: European Gala, European baroque music concert held by soloists of Il Gardellino ensemble (Marcel Ponseele - oboe, Jan De Winne – traverso) and Ketil Haugsand. Sunday, October 30:The Festival ended with La Stravaganza, Italian and Portuguese baroque musique concert held by Il Gardellino ensemble. |
