The Cotroceni National Museum is pleased to invite you on Wednesday, April 20th 2011, at 6 pm, for the Easter Concert. Following the long tradition of Easter concerts in the refined ambiance of the Cerchez Room, this year are honoured to invite you to a musical journey in the spiritual universe of Easter, through a repertoire gathering together religious oevres performed by the „Accoustic Chamber Choir“, conducted by Daniel Jinga. The program features pieces signed by Ioan D. Chirescu, Gavriil Musicescu, Paul Constantinescu, Marţian Negrea, Gheorghe Cucu, Irina Odăgescu, Nicolae Lungu, Alessandro Scarlatti, Randall Thompson, Hall Johnson, Harry Dixon Loes. The Accoustic Choir has been set up in the spring of 2001, by a group of young artists interested in promoting the blend between classical and modern music. Composed of 35 young chorists, it shows the willingness to continue this tradition in Romania and prove the young generation is also attuned with this particular genre. The choir has both a high vocal standard and an interesting repertoire: from Renaissance music (both religious and profane) to simphonic music, modern and contemporary, folklore, madrigal, theatre music, film music, pop-jazz, a capella. The Accoustic choir has a rich activity both at home and abroad: Bucharest, Ploieşti, Cernavodă, Galaţi, Switzerland, Italy, Israel, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, different collaborations with theatres (Bulandra, Metropolis, The National Comic Opera Theatre ”Ion Dacian”) and the National Opera Bucharest as well as a series of recordings with the Romanian Society of Radio Broadcasting, CD- Christmas Carols (Electrecord 2003), CD - Liturgy of St. John (The National Music University - George Enescu Studio, Bucharest 2004). The golden medal the accoustic choir has won in the Choir International Competition, the 15th edition (Preveza-Greece, July 2010) is one token of recognition of its activity, promoting Romanian music and the great family of European Culture. Daniel Jinga is the founding conductor of the Accoustic choir from 2001. He has graduated from the National University of Music in Bucharest - Composition, Musicology and Musical Pedagogy in 2003 and he is currently working on his PhD thesis entitled “The role of the Choir in Wagnerian compositions”. He also pursued two masterclasses of choir conducting: in 2004 - choir conducting and conducting stylistics held in Sinaia by Sharon Hansen - professor at the Winsconsin Milwaukee (US) University and in 2006 in Bulgaria (Rousse), held with the choir Arnold Schoenberg, by professor Erwin Ortner of Vienna. |
Daniel Jinga has also conducted the Chamber Choir Madrigal and the orchestra Symphonic Band and between 1997 and 1999 he was a member of the Te Deum Laudamus choir, Preludio Choir and the Madrigal Chamber Music Choir. He has held countless concerts at home and abroad with renouned Romanian artists: Angela Gheorghiu, Felicia Filip, Nicolae Voiculeţ, Vlad Miriţă, but also the Philarmonics George Enescu from Bucharest, the „Ion Dacian“ Opera Theatre from Bucharest, the Bulandra Theatre, Metropolis, the National Theatre of Timişoara. The conductor Daniel Jinga was awarded in 2003 with the prize for his conducting activity, given by the Choir National Association and the prize for best conductor at the Choir Festival Argos Orestiko, Greece.
