International Festival „Johann Strauss“, the 10th edition


     The 10th jubilee edition of „Johann Strauss“ International Festival, organized by the Romanian Association of Waltz Lovers between August 14 and August 21, 2011, has become a traditional event in the cultural milieu of Romania.      - Tuesday, August 2011, 12 am - „Lady Johann Strauss - the annoying widow?“ conference, held by PhD Thomas Aigner, director of the Music Collection of the Vienna City Hall Library.
     PhD Thomas Aigner received his doctorate in musical studies at the University of Vienna and took part in various activities at the Municipal Conservatory of Vienna, later the Conservatory of Vienna (Private University). He has held numerous conferences and published a series of works about the 19th and 20th century music, most of them focused on the life and work of Johann Strauss.
     - Tuesday, August 16, 2011, 18 pm - „Golden Bridge Eastwards“ - voice and piano recital: Ilhan Hande Ekşioglu - soprano, Lena Şenol - piano (Turkey) - the Cerchez Room of the Cotroceni National Museum.
     Ilhan Hande Ekşioglu was born in Instanbul and graduated the State Conservatory - voice and opera choir performance in 2010. She attended the Mario Steller Studio, organized by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Instanbul. She has studied under A. Alp Köksal, soloist at the Instanbul State Opera. She has collaborated with the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation Youth Chorus and performed with the great composer and violinist Alexander Markov and with conducter Ender Sakpinar.
     - Wednesday, August 17, 2011, 18 pm - Waltz concert, in the interpretation of the Artmusik Quartet, conducted by Iosif Ion Prunner.
     The Artmusik Quartet consists of four of the most skilled members of the „George Enescu“ Philarmonic: Marius Biclea - first violin, Emil Stegar - second violin, Florin Matei - viola, Dan Joitoiu - cello. The four soloists enjoy a considerable reputation, appearing in many prestigious concerts in Romania, as well as in Europe, South America or Japan.
     Conducter Iosif Ion Prunner graduated the „Dinu Lipatti“ Highschool and the Music Academy in Bucharest. After graduation, he joined the „George Enescu“ Philarmonic in Bucharest, where he conducted for the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra. He has collaborated with the National Radio Orchestra and was invited to conduct by the Romanian Opera. He held concerts in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, Russia, Greece, Hungary, Switzerland or Bulgaria. In 2007, he was invited to join the Toulouse Capitole Orchestra and the San Sebastian Orpheus Chorus, together with other famous artists, in order to present Verdi’s Requiem in San Sebastian, Toulouse and Paris. In 2003, he was awarded the Cultural Merit Order for his entire work.
     - Thursday, August 18, 2011, 18 pm - Piano recital performed by Adrian Oliviu Stoica, dedicated to Franz Liszt Jubilee Year (2011).
     Pianist Adrian Oliviu Stoica graduated the Music Highschool in Cluj and the „Gheorghe Dima“ Music Academy. During his studies, he has had the opportunity to meet notable musicians such as: Georg Sava, Harald Enghiurliu (piano), Ferdinand Weiss (chamber music), Dan Voiculescu (couterpoint and musical stylistics), Valentin Timariu (forms), Romeo Ghircoiaşu (music history and musical studies). After taking his licence degree, Adrian Oliviu Stoica has furthered his studies as a soloist and regularly attended the classes of the International Seminar in Weimar.
