The exhibition is dedicated to the anniversary of 500 years of printing in the Romanian area, in the 16th century. It includes 49 rarely exhibited books, the first printed books by Macarie and the great publishers that followed. The books have circulated in the Romanian Principalities, in the Balkan monasteries and in the European libraries. Şerban Cantacuzino (1678 - 1688) and Constantin Brâncoveanu’s (1688 - 1714) reigns meant the climax of Romanian printing, The Cotroceni Museum has offered the public a rare collection of manuscripts seldomly gathered together in previous occasions. An event organized under the patronage of the President of Romania. |
