„FOUNDERS AND MARTYRS “ - RELIGIOUS ART EXHIBITION BY ELENA MURARIU
   
           The Cotroceni National Museum organized in Thursday, May 13th 2010, at 6 p.m in the Medieval Spaces of the museum, the exhibition Founders and Martyrs, religious art - by Elena Murariu.

           Elena Murariu has been a member of the Artists Union in Romania since 1999 and between 1990 and 2010 she participated in numerous personal and group exhibitions, in Romania and abroad in Bucharest, Bârlad, Slobozia, Craiova, Lisbon, Belgrade, Kiev, Venice, Paris, Prague.

           She has also restored mural paintings in renowned Romanian monuments, churches and monasteries as the Patriarchal Cathedral, the Polovragi monastery, the St. Eftimie Church, the Stavropoleos church, the Humor Monastery, St Nicholas Church in Curtea de Argeş, the Voroneţ monastery. The results of her research activity has been presented in international conferences in Florence, Rome, Olinda and Potsdam.

           At the Cotroceni museum she will display 40 weeks of graphics and 20 icons, as the first of a series of exhibitions concentrating on the two families that shaped Romanian culture and politics - Cantacuzino and   Brâncoveanu.

           The opening of the exhibition was followed by a concert of the Psalmist group Nectarie Protopsaltu, famous for their interpretation of Byzantine music in Romania.
