PUBLIC RELATIONS, MUSEUM PEDAGOGY AND MARKETING DEPARTMENT

                Through its range of activities this department is involved in all events of the museum, encouraging a diverse program of information, formation and education. It is concerned with:
        - Scientific activity both through research, attending scientific sessions, national symposiums, round tables, discussions and through publishing numerous articles concerning the events organized by the museum, giving interviews and attending shows in the cultural press.
- Shaping and coordinating the program of Museum Pedagogy for Arts and Music highschool students in Bucharest, for students in History, Archive Management, Architecture, Letters, Psychology, Political Sciences and for the attendees of the Professionals’ Center of the Ministry of Culture and Cults.
        - Promoting all events of the institution, press monitoring and gathering all articles.
        - Providing museum tours in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, both by the specialists of the department and the touring office staff.
        - Conducting social polls, on varied categories of visitors, in order to establish new means of improving strategies, based on the public’s needs and interests.
        - Engaging in the marketing activity of the museum for each particular event, for gathering funds, finding sponsors and media partners.
        - Facilitating interior and exterior communication, important in maintaining a solid team and a proper public image.
        - The specialists of the department were awarded with the Excellency Golden Award for the Solidarity and integrity through Art program, in the Public Relations Excellency Gala, organized by the Forum Foundation for International Communications and the European Confederacy of Public Relations, held in November 2004. The Cotroceni National Museum is the only Romanian institution to have received this acknowledgement.

RESEARCH - DOCUMENTATION DEPARTMENT

                Mainly focuses on:
        - Using the museum’s collections - including additional patrimonium - through documenting, research and exhibitions.
        - Dealing with the methods of conservation and restoration.
        - Proposing acquisitions of new cultural goods.
        - Improving the presentation of collections.
        In its 15 years of existence, the department has focused on Medieval, Modern and Contemporary art and history of the Cotroceni ensemble, the history and art during the Cantacuzino family period, the during the medieval up to modern rulers (from the Fanariots up to Royalty).
        The curators of the department have organized numerous exhibitions dedicated to history and art during the royal period, to the history of thought in the 19th century, to the history during the Cantacuzino period and to the history of Medieval art.
        The department comprises the documentation section, the library and the photography collection.

DEPARTMENT FOR DIGITAL INVENTORY OF HERITAGE

                Working with three to five curators and three PC operators.
        The research focuses on Art and Decorative Art collections of the museum, concluded by issuing records of the collections and related scientific documentation, by participating in conferences and organizing exhibitions.
        The PC operating staff is managing the data bases and the printed documents.

THE CONSERVATION - RESTORATION DEPARTMENT

                There restoration laboratories exist in the museum, each one focusing on different techniques:
        - painting on wood surfaces (2002)
        - rare and old books (1993)
        - painting on canvas, wood, carton, etc (2002)
        The activity of the seven experts and conservators:
        - Conserving, preserving, and assuring the integrity of the artefacts and thesaurus goods, observing and establishing appropriate mesures and interventions, conducted and supervised by specialists only, in order to assure their maximum life span.
        - Restoring museum goods meant to improve their mechanical-physical parameters and give them their initial function.
        Research:
        Invention patent ( OSIM) „XYLO PROTECT A“. a chemical solution for conserving paintings on wood, obtained by the restoration laboratory of the Cotroceni National Museum.
        Awards:
        The IOSIF KORODY award, given by the Culture and Cults Ministry in the Special contributions to the development of the National Heritage, in the section Revaluing artworks through restoration and the restoration of a 16th century Italian painting The Allegory of Air by J. Bassano.
